This Victron DC-DC Converter supplies a stable 12V supply from a 24V system. As most equipment, such as navigation and radio equipment, mobile telephones or car hi-fi systems have been designed for 12V, they require a DC-DC Converter to reduce the voltage from 24V-12V. Some sensitive equipment needs a stable 12V output, so Orion is also available in a 12V-12V model to ensure a constant voltage no matter if the battery is charged or discharged.
The DC-DC converter has an adjustable output so can also be used as a battery charger (for example) to charge a 12V starter or accessory battery in an otherwise 24V system. Both 9A & 20A models are short circuit proof and can be paralleled to increase output current. An unlimited number of units can be connected in parallel. Installation is easy as no special tools are required and when installed with the screw terminals oriented downwards, the DC-DC converter offers IP43 protection.
