Although inshore life rafts are less expensive, we strongly advise you do not cut costs by purchasing an inshore life raft for offshore use as each life raft has different features tailored for its specified use.
After you’ve found the right life raft for your requirements, you’ll be presented with two options – valise or container. Valise life rafts are designed to be stowed in a locker or secure place that’s easily accessible in an emergency, whilst container life rafts are to be mounted securely (usually on the deck or guardrail) using a life raft cradle. It’s also worth purchasing a hydrostatic release unit for your life raft incase there’s no time to launch the raft.
