Ocean Signal's S100 SART assists in rescue and recovery by providing an enhanced target in response to radars operating in the vicinity. The X-band radar transponder transmits a series of pulses which are displayed on the ships' radar as a line of dots, providing a bearing to the survival craft. When switched on, the SART remains in standby mode until automatically activated by an X Band Radar sweep from any vessel in the vicinity.
Most super and mega yachts are required to cover a SART, especially if covered by the MCA code of practice, which is recognised by many countries.
