What Is Self Polishing Antifouling Paint?

Antifouling is designed to slowly erode over time when the vessel is in motion, releasing biocides into the surrounding water that deter the growth of organisms. As the antifouling paint wears away, a fresh layer is exposed, allowing the process to continue. This self-polishing action helps to maintain the effectiveness of the antifoul for longer periods of time, in comparison with traditional antifouling paints.

Self polishing antifouling is suitable for cruisers and sailing boats with speeds up to 30 knots, as if it's used on boats faster than this, the paint will erode too quickly.
