International’s Compass Yacht Varnish is a fast­-drying polyurethane yacht varnish. The polyurethane finish is tough, durable and resistant to surface scratches, oil, mild acid/alkai and alcohol spills.

Enjoy reduced work times thanks to the varnishes' quick drying properties; if applied at 30 degrees there is only a four hour wait in-between coats. Also, dust contamination is minimised thanks to how fast the application can dry. The gloss varnish itself has a superior flow which ensures a smooth, professional finish and contains HALS and UV absorbers to protect the wood and prolong the lifespan of the coating. One application is complete you will see a light amber, high gloss finish which allows the natural appearance of the wood to show through.

How can the varnish applied?

It can be applied with a brush or paint roller. You can also use a conventional spray but it is recommended that this is only done by professionals. It’s also recommended that you apply two coats per day, sanding every 2-3 coats.

How long should I wait in-between coats?

If applied at 10C – 10 hours.
15C – 8 hours. 23C – 6 hours.
30C – 4 hours.

There is a maximum time of one month regardless of air temperature.

How long does Compass Varnish take to become touch dry?

If applied at 10C – 2 hours.
15C – 45 minutes.
23C – 40 minutes.
30C – 30 mins.

How long does the varnish take to become hard dry?

If applied at 10C – 6 hours.
15C – 3 hours.
23C – 2.5 hours.
30C – 2 hours.

What is International Compass Varnish's coverage?

Approximately 12.9 metres square per litre.

At what temperature can the formula be applied?

It is recommended that the varnish is applied with the temperature between 10C and 30C.

What type of wood is Compass Varnish suitable for?

All types of wood including oily timbers such as Teak and Iroko.

Other Notes:
High gloss finish. For a satin finish mix with matting additive. This product can be used both internally and externally.
