The handheld Icom VHF radio is built to IP57 dust and waterproof protection rating (1 Metre for 30 minutes) and features an AquaQuake draining function to clear water away from the speaker grill, preventing the speaker from becoming waterlogged. If you were to drop the radio into the water, IC-M37E can easily be located by its flashing red LED light and LCD/key backlight.

An extremely useful feature of the handheld radio is the Channel History Function. This feature stores the last five channels used for easy recall at the press of a single key, which is handy for any voyage.

IC-M37E's lithium-ion battery provides more than 12 hours of operating time, and when it's time to recharge, an included drop-in charger that includes a neat little clip will keep the radio in place in moving environments. The drop-in charger can be powered by a mains charger (supplied) as well as 12V on board via a USB adapter socket, making charging versatile. An additional battery case is also supplied as standard.
