Starboard Nav Lights

Starboard navigation lights are integral components of a vessel's lighting system, designed to enhance maritime safety by conveying essential information about a vessel's position and movements. Positioned on the right, or starboard side, of a vessel, these lights emit a green colour and play a critical role in helping mariners determine the orientation and direction of vessels in relation to their own position.

The green colour of the starboard navigation light is standardized internationally, enabling quick and accurate identification of a vessel's starboard side when observed from another vessel or shore. Starboard navigation lights work in conjunction with other lights, such as red port navigation lights and masthead navigation lights, to create a comprehensive signalling system that aids mariners in navigating safely, especially during periods of low visibility or darkness.

These lights are mandated by international maritime regulations and are particularly significant for vessels navigating through busy shipping lanes, intricate waterways, and areas with limited manoeuvring space. By adhering to the prescribed use of starboard navigation lights, mariners contribute to the overall safety and orderliness of maritime traffic, ensuring smooth and secure passage for vessels around the world.
