Duralac Green Jointing Compound is a chromate free jointing compound that is designed to inhibit electrolytic decompsition between dissimilar metals (also known as galvanic corrosion). When used correctly, Duralac prevents anodic decomposition.

Duralac Green offers excellent protection properties for metals in contact with:
Fabrics, etc.
Leather.
Rubber.
Synthetic resin composition.
Wood.

Duralac has low solubility in water and will not erode over time, even when subjected to high pressure from considerable water flow. The formula has excellent adhesion properties to most substrates, and thanks to its tough and flexible composition, has very low water absorption.

Where should Duralac Green be used?

Between aluminum alloy plates/extrusions and bolts or rivets used in building applications.
In aerospace where rivets/bolts are secured into aluminium plates.
In close proximity to the sea where a salt laden atmosphere will meet with structures and set up electroytic cells.
In general engineering applications where dissimilar contact cannot be avoided.
In vehicle building applications where aluminium alloy contacts steel.
Marine applications where corrosion is accelerated by brine concentration.

Application:
Duralac Green is supplied ready for use and must not be thinned. When the formula is applied to metal or other surfaces, the volatile solvent evaporates and the compound sets to the touch, but remains tacky for a considerable period. It's important that the joint is closed while Duralac Green is still tacky to ensure that it will flow sufficiently under pressure to close gaps in the joint. The formula will harden if a thin film is left exposed to the atmosphere for a long period, preventing the making of a close joint.
