This adaptor from Digital Yacht converts NMEA 0183 data into a USB format that can be plugged into most modern computers. As the adaptor is bi-directional, data can be sent to and from systems - plus supports traditional 4,800 baud data, or the higher speed 38,400 baud rate that is used by AIS systems.

LEDs show data received and transmitted, helping with interfacing issues and encapsulating all the electronics into the connector. The device creates a virtual COM port on the PC, which navigation and charting software can use to read NMEA data. As a result, this effectively allows the creation of any number of NMEA ports on your PC.
